Stuck inside? Take The Opportunity to Spring Clean

We hope that you and your family are healthy and safe during this pandemic. By now you’re probably getting a little stir crazy. We’re all looking for things to do; it’s the perfect time to knock out a little spring cleaning, decluttering and reorganizing. Here are five spring cleaning hacks that might make this annual chore a little easier.

Clean Your Curtains

If you have long curtains, you know that they can be huge dust collectors. Add in a pet or two, and your curtains are magnets for pet hair. Use a lint brush to wipe them down and to get the hair off the bottom. If they’re still not clean, try throwing them into your dryer along with a wet towel on the air-fluff cycle.

Use Rubbing Alcohol on Appliances

Use a mixture of 50/50 rubbing alcohol to water to clean your stainless steel, chrome, or glass appliances. Follow up your cleaning with a dry cloth to polish and remove any water stains.

Tackle Your Refrigerator with Salt and Soda Water

If you knew how many germs are in your fridge, you might lose your appetite. Spend your spring cleaning taking care of your refrigerator. Create a salt and soda water mixture to deep clean each shelf. You’ll be surprised at how well this combo works.

Reorganize Your Kitchen and Pantry

Now that you have time at home think about the organization of your kitchen. Is it time to declutter and reorganize for efficiency? We all have those drawers that have become catch-alls, declutter. It will help you have a fresh start. This is a good exercise for the pantry as well.

Disinfect Your Bathroom

You most likely clean your bathroom regularly but take this time to really do a deep clean. Soak your tiles with cleaner and let it sit while you clean the rest. Then go back and scrub the tiles and grout. Take a stab at getting rid of any hard water stains while you’re at it. Use a mixture of 50 percent white vinegar and 50 percent water.

Tackle Your Ceiling Fans

One of the biggest dust collectors in your home are your ceiling fans. Use furniture polish to clean them. Put an old pillowcase over each blade to catch any excess dust.

I hope these tips help you tackle your cleaning. As we spend more time at home and if you feel like it’s time to freshen things up, visit The Showroom at Coutura online for all of your design inspirations. Stay safe. Stay home.
